Archdiocese Partners with CatholicQuiz.com to Give Military Personnel Free Access to Online Catholic Games and Quizzes

Interactive Website designed to build understanding of faith

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Who says Catholics can’t have fun during Lent while serving their country in the Armed Forces? The Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) is now partnering with CatholicQuiz.com to provide United States military personnel and their families stationed anywhere in the world free access to the interactive Web site of games and quizzes about the Catholic Faith.

Mark Moitoza, D. Min., Vice-Chancellor and Director of Evangelization, says the site gives every Catholic in the military services free 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week access to more than 7,500 Church-approved questions and answers for all age groups and levels of understanding, from young children to adults.

Dr. Moitoza said:

“CatholicQuiz.com is an excellent way for Catholics and Catholic families serving in the military to test and build their knowledge, curiosity and confidence in learning the Faith. The games and quizzes are as challenging, informative and educational as they are interesting, engaging and just plain fun. And what better time than Lent to take the challenge!”

The site provides access to more than a dozen games and quizzes with names such as “Prince of Peace,” the “New Mass Game,” “Sacred Songs,” “The Saints are Coming,” and “Quizzle Me Confirmation.” Questions include the following:

• Who is the Author of the Acts of the Apostles?
• What is mortal sin?
• In 1690, who organized the Christian Brothers in France?
• What is the name of the container which holds the hosts at Mass?
• What does the Church celebrate on the feast of the Assumption?
• Who wrote the book Utopia and was beheaded because he refused to recognize the Act of Supremacy?

As you play, you learn and grow in faith knowledge and accrue CQ-IQ points across ten different knowledge categories and four challenge levels. You can earn points for every game played and every question answered correctly. Your points track to the Scorekeeper for your Service Branch (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard).

All Catholic members of the military services are invited to go to www.milarch.org/lentenchallenge and login there to CatholicQuiz.com/milarch from any computer with an Internet connection. Here’s how:

1. Go to www.milarch.org/lentenchallenge.
2. Click on the link to CatholicQuiz.com/milarch.
3. Click Login and select your Service Branch (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard).

As the nation’s only archdiocese without geographical boundaries, the AMS provides the Catholic Church’s full range of pastoral ministries and spiritual services to American Catholics and their families in the Armed Forces, V.A. Medical Centers and U.S. government civilian jobs outside our borders. An estimated 1.5 million Catholics depend on the AMS and the priests it endorses to serve their spiritual and sacramental needs at more than 350 locations around the world.
