Our Administrative Nerve Center

While the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA spans the globe in its ministry to active duty military and their families, all pastoral needs and concerns are responded to by the staff of the Archdiocesan offices, located in Washington, DC.

The Archdiocesan staff deal with matters that are common to all dioceses. Their "parishioners," however, are at military installations around the world.

It is in the DC offices that records of sacraments for the current 1.4 million active duty military and their families are housed. It is a mammoth undertaking to maintain the 2.7 million records managed since the archdiocese’s inception in 1917, and to respond to over 30,000 requests annually from a "congregation" of generations of military families.

All offices, whatever their function, respond to a high volume of requests. The Archdiocesan team also provides major pastoral programs that support ongoing faith formation and evangelization.

The heart of the Military Archdiocesan office is its committed staff, small in number but great in its love of the Church and the Military and proficient in the work that they do. Led by Archbishop O’Brien, this group is united in both purpose and prayer, celebrating daily Mass in the office’s Mary Queen of Peace chapel.

"Navigate" through this section to meet the special people who support our men and women in the military.
