“Get away, Satan.” (Mt 4:1- 11)
Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Alone Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights. The devil approaches Jesus with three different temptations. The time apart in the desert can be viewed as desolate and isolated. Yet, Jesus was not alone. His relationship with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit sustained him in these trials. Those who nourished his growth, while not physically present were certainly with him in prayer and solidarity. Who is with me when I feel alone? How does the Catholic faith community support me when I am far from home?
