Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, hopes to field at least 50 runners and raise $55,000 in Oct. 25 race; registration opens April 7
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA(AMS), will field a team in the 40th Annual Marine Corps Marathon (MCM). For the third year in a row, Team AMS will run as a “charity partner” in the Oct. 25 race to raise money for the archdiocese. Last year, 47 runners from 18 different states and the District of Columbia completed the 39th Annual Marine Corps Marathon and 10K as members of Team AMS and surpassed the $50,000 fundraising goal. This year, the team hopes to field at least 50 runners and raise at least $55,000.
For those not up to the challenge of the full 26.2 mile marathon, the MCM will again host a 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) race the same day on a parallel route along the Potomac River, through the scenic neighborhoods and stately monument grounds of the nation’s capital.
Beginning on Tuesday, April 7, anyone interested in joining Team AMS for the marathon may register at www.milarch.org/marathon. Registration will remain open until all 50 slots are filled. 10K runners may register individually on the same site beginning May 20.
Registration details are as follows:
Marathon Runner Registration: The AMS has 50 marathon entries. To reserve your entry, please visit www.milarch.org/marathon. The Team AMS registration fee is $20 which covers a Team AMS shirt, Team AMS events, and fundraising support (including a fundraising web page). You will be responsible for the marathon registration fee. The AMS will provide you with a link and registration code. You are encouraged to raise at least $500, but it is not required.
The AMS will cover the marathon registration fee for clergy and seminarians.
MCM10K Registration: MCM10K registrations are available on the Marine Corps Marathon website (www.marinemarathon.com). Registration opens on May 20. After registering for the race, you can join Team AMS. The Team AMS registration fee is $20 which also covers the Team AMS shirt, Team AMS events, and fundraising support. You are encouraged to raise at least $200, but there is no penalty if that goal is not met.
Please contact Carol Dygert, Team AMS Organizer (cdygert@milarch.org), for more information.
The MCM is the third largest marathon in the United States and the eighth largest in the world. Last year, nearly 30,000 runners took part, and the 2015 marathon is limited to 30,000 participants.

The AMS is a charity partner in the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon. Neither the federal government nor the Marine Corps endorses its participation.
