Pope: We Must Renew Our Way of Being Christians

pope giving eucharist to soldierVIS: December 22, 2011
The Holy Father exchanged traditional Christmas and New Year’s greetings with the cardinals and members of the Roman Curia and of the Governance of the Vatican City State. In his address he highlighted the establishment of the Pontifical Office for the New Evangelization and five characteristics of World Youth Day which offer hope along with a new, more youthful form of Christianity:

1) A need for the experience of catholicity, of the Church’s universality, that despite our differences we know one another in faith
2) A new way of living our humanity, our Christianity – by volunteering and being there for others, no matter the cost, giving of yourself creates great happiness
3) Adoration – “God is indeed ever-present”
4) Confession – the need for forgiveness over and over again and that forgiveness brings responsibility
5) Joy – based upon the certainty of faith knowing that “I am wanted: I have a task; I am accepted: I am loved.”
