Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.
– Holy Father’s Prayer for the Jubilee
The Holy Father has announced that beginning on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015 and ending Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, November 20, 2016 there will be a Holy Year of Mercy, to highlight the Catholic Church’s “mission to be a witness of mercy.” During this year, there will be a focus on Divine Mercy, and a call for the Church to bring experience of God’s forgiveness to all people.
