Catholic U.S. Army Chaplain Candidate Ordained a Transitional Deacon in Detroit

DETROIT – The Reverend Mr. Matthew D. Kurt, (1 Lt) USAR, a candidate for the Catholic priesthood and United States Military chaplaincy, was ordained a transitional deacon on Saturday, April 15, in his home Archdiocese of Detroit, MI. The new deacon is on track to be ordained a priest next year and hopes eventually to serve as a Catholic chaplain in the U.S. Army providing pastoral care to Catholic soldiers and their families with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS).

Archdiocese to Hold Days of Recollection in Asia and Europe for Priests and Chaplains Serving Those Who Serve Overseas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Catholic priests serving as U.S. Military chaplains to the armed forces in Asia and Europe will soon have an opportunity to attend any of three regional clergy days of recollection scheduled over the next few months on both continents. Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio has approved the opportunities to help sustain spiritually priests endorsed by the Archdiocese of the Military Services, USA, (AMS), to serve those who serve.

Military Catholics Well-Represented at National Jamboree of Boy Scouts of America

MOUNT HOPE, W. Va. – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), is well represented at the Boy Scouts of America’s National Jamboree now underway in Mount Hope, W. Va. Scouts from Catholic U.S. Military families based throughout the United States and as far away as Europe and Asia are participating in the July 19-28 Jamboree at the 14,000-acre Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.
