WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Honorable Muriel Bowser, Mayor of Washington, D.C., issued an order authorizing—effective Monday, June 22, 2020—Phase Two for reopening the District of Columbia from the March 25 coronavirus shutdown. Based on the Mayor’s Order for Phase Two and the recommendations for successive phases by the ReOpen DC Advisory Group, Archbishop Timothy Broglio has approved a framework for reopening the Edwin Cardinal O’Brien Pastoral Center, home base of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Archbishop Timothy Broglio to Join Brother Bishops in Re-Consecration of U.S. and Canada to Blessed Mother

WASHINGTON, D.C. — His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., will virtually join his brother Catholic bishops throughout the United States and Canada on May 1, 2020, in renewing the consecration of the two nations to the care of the Blessed Mother in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 3:00 p.m. (EDT) re-consecration will be led in Los Angeles by Archbishop José H. Gomez, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, with U.S. and Canadian bishops joining in their respective dioceses. Archbishop Broglio will take part in the prayer of consecration from the main chapel of the Edwin Cardinal O’Brien Pastoral Center in Washington, D.C., home base for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The AMS will live stream Archbishop Broglio’s participation on its Facebook page beginning at 3:00 p.m. EDT. The faithful are invited to take part online.

Pope Francis Calls on Christians to Join Lord’s Prayer Wednesday over Coronavirus Pandemic

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Pope Francis is calling on Christians everywhere to respond to the novel coronavirus pandemic by joining him in praying the Lord’s Prayer at 7:00 a.m. ET (noon in Rome) on Wednesday, March 25. That day marks the Feast of the Annunciation, when the faithful celebrate the angel Gabriel’s visitation to the Virgin Mary, announcing the Incarnation of the Word.
