EMMITSBURG, MD – His Eminence, Edwin Cardinal O’Brien, Grand Master Emeritus of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and former Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, will be the main celebrant and homilist at the annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services Mass on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3:30 p.m. EDT, at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 339 South Seton Avenue, Emmitsburg, MD, 21727-9297. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, will concelebrate the mid-afternoon Mass.

Pilgrimage for the Sea Services Draws Crowd to National Shrine of Elizabeth Ann Seton

EMMITSBURG, MD – The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton welcomed nearly 350 visitors on Sunday for its annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services. This year for the first time the pilgrimage Mass was broadcast live on EWTN. The Most Reverend Neal J. Buckon, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), himself a retired commissioned officer and chaplain in the U.S. Army, was the principal celebrant and homilist.

Annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services Planned for Oct. 6 at the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

EMMITSBURG, MD – Come to the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and pray for servicemen and women at the Annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services on Sunday, Oct. 6, in Emmitsburg, MD. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is the Patroness of the Sea Services, which include the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Public Health Service. The late John Joseph Cardinal O’Connor advocated for her designation as the Patroness of the Sea Services in 1977 when he served as the U.S. Navy Chief of Chaplains. The 3:00 p.m. (EDST) Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Michael C. Barber, SJ, Bishop of Oakland, CA, who also served for many years as a chaplain in the Naval Reserve.

EMMITSBURG, MD — All are welcome to the annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services at the Seton Shrine on Sunday, October 7, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is the Patroness of the Sea Services, which includes the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Public Health Service. The late Cardinal John J. Connor, when serving as the Navy  Chief of Chaplains, advocated for her designation as the Patroness of the Sea Services in 1977. The 3:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated by Father Francis P. Foley, CAPT, CHC, USN, and Command Chaplain of the Unites States Naval Academy. The Mass is co-sponsored by the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
