On Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, “Team AMS” will run in the Army Ten-Miler in support of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Team AMS comprises ~50 runners, including military members, civilians, chaplains, AMS seminarians, AMS employees, and non-AMS priests. Through gifts from sponsors, they hope to raise $60,000 in support of the AMS mission to provide pastoral care for Catholics in the U.S. armed forces and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers.
His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, noted that “Each member runs for various reasons, all of which unite in one cause – sustaining the Archdiocese that supports members of the military and their families. Each runner wants to ensure that from all the sacrifices our service members and their families must make, their religion is not one!”

On 13 October a team of runners representing the AMS will compete in the Army Ten-Miler. This team is running to bring awareness to the archdiocese and to help raise funds for programs that serve Catholic service members and their families around the globe. If your Chapel community is willing to financially sponsor a runner, this could be noted at the end of the paragraph above, i.e. “If you plan on running, count on support from your chapel community.”
