Scouting ministry provides programs that effectively contribute toward the implementation of a comprehensive approach to Catholic youth ministry. Young people need the guidance of happy, healthy, and holy adult role models willing to share their faith in both word and action.

Father Capodanno Activity Patch
The AMS Catholic Committee on Scouting developed an activity patch for Catholic youth and adults. This activity patch honors Servant of God Father Vincent Capodanno. His words, deeds, and devotion to prayer and sacraments have inspired countless American Catholics, especially those serving in the military. The purposes of the activity are:
- To provide awareness to Scouts, adult Scout leaders, and others on the role of Priests serving as Chaplains in the US Armed Forces.
- To encourage learning about more about servant leadership through the life and sacrifice of Father Vincent Capodanno.
- To promote Priesthood and military Chaplaincy as a vocation.
Click the activity patch button below the patch image to read about the requirements that are designated by age level. Upon completing the age-appropriate tasks print and mail the completed AMS Scout Patch Order Form – see the button at the top of this webpage.
Special thanks to Father Peter Gray, S.S., the artist of the Father Capodanno image, who granted permission to use that image to develop the patch design.
