WASHINGTON, DC —His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, will be the principal celebrant and homilist at a Mass tomorrow evening commemorating the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. The Mass will take place in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC, 20017, at 5:15 p.m. ET on Sept. 11, 2026.
On that horrific day 25 years ago, many gathered in prayer at the Basilica, filling Mary’s Shrine as people came together for Mass – in shock, in tears, and in prayer. On this 25th anniversary, the faithful will gather once again to remember those who died, honor the brave first responders and members of our Armed Forces who answered the Nation’s call in its aftermath, and entrust to the mercy of God all affected by that tragic event.
Archbishop Broglio said: “We gather in prayer to remember the fallen, both the innocent victims and first responders, to renew our commitment to justice, and to pray for that peace that the world cannot give. Remembering these tragic events must serve as a call to work for justice and renew a spirit of dialogue among nations.”
