Archbishop Broglio to Celebrate Memorial Mass on May 19 at National Shrine

Service to honor U.S. Military members, living and dead

WASHINGTON, DC – The Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS), USA, has announced the date and time for its 25th annual Memorial Mass. The Mass will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. (EDST) on Sunday, May 19, 2019, in the Great Upper Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Avenue, Northeast in Washington, D.C.

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services (pictured preaching at the 2018 Memorial Mass), will be the principal celebrant and homilist, with dozens of priests and U.S. Military chaplains concelebrating and deacons assisting.

The sacrament of reconciliation will be offered from 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. followed by a praying of the rosary. The opening procession will commence after a 15-minute musical prelude beginning at 4:15 p.m.

The Memorial Mass is open to the public. Uniform of the day is business attire for civilians or military equivalent. The Basilica is air conditioned and handicapped accessible. The media are welcomed to cover the Mass.
