WASHINGTON, DC—The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) is looking for volunteers to join Team AMS in the 35th annual Army Ten-Miler (ATM) on Oct. 13, 2019. Free registration is now open on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, visit or send an e-mail to

Team AMS will run the ten-mile course not only for fun and exercise, but also to raise awareness and financial support for the Archdiocese. Each Team AMS runner will be provided with a unique fundraising web page, and the proceeds raised will support pastoral care for Catholics in the U.S. Military as well as those receiving treatment in the nation’s Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers.

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, noted that “Each member runs for various reasons, all of which unite in one cause – sustaining the Archdiocese that supports members of the military and their families. Each runner wants to ensure that from all the sacrifices our service members and their families must make, their religion is not one!”

Last year, 54 runners from across the country represented Team AMS and raised nearly $60,000. The AMS hopes to surpass that achievement this October. Mr. Salvador Perez, AMS Director of Advancement, said the Army Ten-Miler is a “great way to get involved in the mission and goals of the AMS– preach the Gospel, have a sufficient number of ministers to do so, and have the financial means necessary to accomplish the first two goals. Team AMS runners can help us in all three areas, by raising awareness of the AMS on a global scale and in the fundraising efforts the financial health of the AMS.”

Team slots are limited, and registration closes August 23 so Mr. Perez advises anyone interested in joining Team AMS to avoid delay in registering. “If you or someone you know is 15 years or older and would like to be part of Team AMS,” he urged, “please ask them to register.”
