Archbishop Broglio has issued the following statement on the election of Pope Leo XIV:
WASHINGTON, DC — Father Gregg M. Caggianelli, Ch, Col, USAF, will be ordained an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), on Friday, May 9, in the main chapel of Saint Vincent de Paul Seminary in Boynton Beach where he has served for many years. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, will celebrate the 2:00 p.m. (ET) ordination Mass.
At the annual Chrism Mass on Tuesday, 24 March at 6:00 p.m., Archbishop Broglio blessed and consecrated sacred oils for sacramental use on military installations and in VA medical centers served by the AMS over the coming year.
On Sunday, March 9, 17 U.S. Military-affiliated catechumens participated in the Rite of Election, the penultimate milestone of OCIA, the process of coming into communion with the Church through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist at Easter.
Nearly 150 U.S. Military personnel, patients, hospital staff, and others gathered for Ash Wednesday Mass at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, which took place soon after Archbishop Broglio brought ashes and Holy Communion to bedridden patients in their rooms.
