ALHAMBRA, CA – Thirteen Catholic U.S. Military couples based in the western United States are gathering here today for a Dec. 7-9 Marriage Enrichment Retreat. The retreat, sponsored by the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS), will take place in the tranquil setting of the Sacred Heart Retreat House on Alhambra Road near Los Angeles.
The thirteen couples will converge on Alhambra from more than a half-dozen U.S. Military installations in California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico, including Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) at Twentynine Palms, Fort Irwin, Kirtland AFB, Creech AFB, Camp Pendleton, Fort Huachuca, and Edwards AFB.
The three-day weekend retreat will start on Friday evening with dinner, an opening prayer, and a session on “Marriage as a Process.” On Saturday, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the couples will participate in sessions on intimacy, compatibility, and communication. Father Jude Militante Serfino will celebrate Holy Mass.
On Sunday morning, the couples will participate in a session on commitment. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, will celebrate Holy Mass before hosting a closing lunch.
The Marriage Enrichment Retreat was organized by the AMS Office of Evangelization. Vice-Chancellor Mark Moitoza, Th.D., D. Min., will serve as Facilitator.
