Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl

Archbishop Broglio asks that families and Catholic faith communities of the AMS participate in CRS Rice Bowl as a way to bring Lenten spirituality to life. CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten faith-in-action program for families and faith communities. As a tool for your Lenten journey, it encompasses the entire liturgical season, beginning on RB-CTA-Stories-300x250-US1632-BAsh Wednesday (February 10, 2016) and concluding on Easter Sunday (March 27, 2016). The program invites Catholics to live in solidarity with our poorest and most vulnerable brothers and sisters through the three Lenten pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Participants journey through the 40 days of Lent with the daily reflections included in the Lenten Calendar and on the CRS Rice Bowl mobile app. You’ll receive ideas for small, sacrificial gifts to fill your Rice Bowls as you read and watch Stories of Hope from individuals and communities whose lives have been changed by CRS Rice Bowl.

What’s New with Rice Bowl?

Catholic Relief Services National Collection

The CRS Collection is one of the second collections taken up by Catholic faith communities throughout the year. This collection offers Catholics a convenient opportunity to help more than 100 million people at home and abroad through a charitable contribution during Mass. The CRS Collection will be taken up this year on Laetare (or “Rejoice”) Sunday, March 6, 2016.

The Catholic Relief Services Collection supports six Catholic organizations that advance the international social ministry of the Church: Catholic Relief Services; USCCB’s Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development; USCCB’s Migration and Refugee Services; Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.; USCCB’s Secretariat for Cultural Diversity in the Church; and the Holy Father’s Relief Fund.
