Program traces Old Testament foreshadowing and New Testament fulfillment of Christ’s three offices as priest, prophet, and king
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Catholic priests serving at United States Military installations around the world, aboard U.S. Navy warships, and in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers, are equipped this Lent with free leader’s kits for Father Robert Barron’s faith study program, Priest, Prophet, King. The kits, each consisting of a six-lesson DVD, the Leader’s Guide, and prayer cards, are intended to support small group faith study in military settings. Word on Fire Ministries, a Chicago area-based, nonprofit global media apostolate that supports Father Barron’s work, donated a total of 500 kits to the priests, all of whom serve with endorsement and faculties from Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Shipments began reaching the priests last month.
The Priest, Prophet, King study program presents the Old Testament foreshadowing of each of Jesus’ three offices as priest, prophet and king, and it then describes how Jesus is the fulfillment of each as seen in the New Testament. The program has six sessions, each designed to include a 20-minute video followed by a 60-to-70-minute facilitated discussion. The program may be used with small faith groups, young adults, parent groups, or anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith. Dr. Mark Moitoza, AMS Vice-Chancellor for Evangelization, expressed appreciation to Word on Fire Ministries for the large donation of kits.
