Just Two Days Left to Register for Team AMS in 2019 Army Ten-Miler Archdiocese seeks six more runners by 2:00 p.m. (ET) Friday, Aug. 23

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Just two days left to register for Team AMS in the 35th annual Army Ten-Miler! The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) is looking for just six more volunteers to join Team AMS in the Oct. 13 foot race. The objective is to raise awareness and financial support for the Archdiocese. Registration closes at 2:00 p.m. (ET) on Friday, Aug. 23. Avoid delay! Register now by signing up as a fundraiser at milarch.org/atm, or by e-mail to advancement@milarch.org, or by telephone at 202-719-3652.

With time running out, so far, 44 volunteers have registered for Team AMS. The AMS Office of Advancement hopes to grow that number to 50 by Friday. Each Team AMS runner will be provided with a unique fundraising web page. Proceeds will support pastoral care for Catholics in the U.S. Military as well as those receiving treatment in the nation’s Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers or working as civilians for the federal government beyond U.S. borders and the families of these populations.

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, noted that “Each member runs for various reasons, all of which unite in one cause – sustaining the Archdiocese that supports members of the military and their families. Each runner wants to ensure that from all the sacrifices our service members and their families must make, their religion is not one!”

Last year, 54 runners from across the country represented Team AMS in the 34th annual Army Ten-Miler and raised nearly $60,000. The AMS hopes to surpass that achievement this October. Mr. Salvador Perez, AMS Director of Advancement, said the Army Ten-Miler is a “fun and unique opportunity to get involved, meet AMS military chaplains, Co-Sponsored Seminarians, staff and clergy, and to help raise critical funds for the AMS.”

Mr. Perez advises anyone interested in joining Team AMS to act now. “If you or someone you know is 15 years or older and would like to be part of Team AMS,” he urged, “please ask them to register before this coming Friday afternoon at two o’clock.”

If you are unable to run, but would like to support an individual runner or Team AMS, visit milarch.org/atm. For Corporate Sponsorship information and opportunities, please contact Mr. Perez directly at advancement@milarch.org, or by telephone at 202-719-3652.
