PHOENIX, AZ – The Catholic Media Association (CMA) has named milarch.org, the official website of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), the best diocesan website in all of the United States and Canada. The CMA presented the first-place award on Friday night, June 27, at the organization’s annual Catholic Media Conference, held this year in Phoenix. Mrs. Margaret “Meg” Betit, AMS Associate Director of Evangelization and Digital Media, and Midstream Marketing of Steubenville, OH, received credit for managing a “stunning website” that is “neatly organized and professionally formatted.” The jury found the site “has consistent and clean design across pages. The hidden menu reduces clutter and makes navigation a breeze. Each icon and visual element serves a purpose to engage visitors to the site’s content.”
The AMS podcast, Catholic Military Life, also took a first-place CMA award for best audio interview. The winning episode featured a conversation with former interim Vocation Director Father Marcel Taillon, who reflected on the Catholic U.S. Military chaplain shortage and how a thriving Co-Sponsored Seminarian Program promises hope for relief. “The interview was well produced with high audio quality, making the interview both engaging and professional,” the jury noted, crediting producer Taylor Henry. “The guest and topic chosen for the interview were lively and the host conducted the interview in a way that put the guest at ease while also seeming to be able to ask questions” about which the listening audience would be wondering.
Catholic Military Life also received a third-place award for “Best Podcast – Expression of Faith” over its 2024 episodes. The jury found “excellent variety with the podcast topics” and “interesting, never-dry discussions handled well by podcast hosts. Production is top-notch. Informative and well-done.”
The AMS Office of Public Affairs and Media Relations received honorable mentions for Best National Electronic Newsletter (e-TTENTION), Best Press Release (“Retired NBA Player Gordon Hayward Joins Catholic Church in Rome,” Oct. 4, 2024), and Podcaster of the Year (Henry, Catholic Military Life).
