Military Catholics Brave Incoming Blizzard to March for Life

Archbishop Timothy Broglio leads group in annual demonstration against abortion

LR_MarchforLife2016_2__1453495630_38577-2WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite forecasts of an incoming blizzard, Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio today led dozens of members of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS) on the annual March for Life. The AMS delegation included young adult Catholics from various military installations and a group of 16 cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

The peaceful, anti-abortion demonstration was joined by scores of thousands in subfreezing temperatures and falling snow on the one-mile route along Constitution Avenue from the Washington Monument to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, where the Roe v. Wadedecision, legalizing abortion, came down 43 years ago.

The theme of March for Life 2016 is “Pro-Life and Pro-Woman Go Hand in Hand.”

Archbishop Broglio said:

“Our society is plagued with violence. Unfortunately, for some it even begins in the womb. Our demonstration today is to insist on the innate dignity of the human person, created in the image and likeness of God. We march as a Church in union with believers from other faith communities and with those who merely recognize that the human person is unique from conception to natural death. This march today with thousands of young people serves to insist that each person be given therespect that he or she deserves.”
