ANCHORAGE, AK – Father Madison Hayes, 2d Lt, USAFR, a candidate for United States Military chaplaincy, was ordained a Catholic priest on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, in Anchorage, AK. He plans eventually to serve on active duty as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The new priest celebrated his first post-ordination Mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Eagle River, AK.
WASHINGTON, DC – The annual Memorial Mass for Father Vincent R. Capodanno, MM, United States Navy Chaplain and Vietnam War hero, will be celebrated on Sept. 7, 2021, at 6:30 p,m. WASHINGTON, D.C. — It’s official: the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), has a new Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia. On Thursday, July 1, 2021, Monsignor Jeffrey G. Laible of the Diocese of Peoria, IL, made the requisite Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity as he assumes the new role. He succeeds Monsignor John J.M. Foster, J.C.D., who is returning to his home Diocese of Stockton, CA, to serve as pastor of the Cathedral of the Annunciation following eight years of productive service to the AMS.
WASHINGTON, DC — Thirteen men from many service branches of the United States Armed Forces will gather here this weekend for a June 24-27 discernment retreat aimed at helping them determine if they are called by the Holy Spirit to be Catholic priests and military chaplains. The Vocations Office of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), is holding the semi-annual retreat at Theological College, the national seminary of the Catholic University of America. The prospective chaplain candidates include three now serving in the Army, two in the Marine Corps, one in the Navy, two in the Air Force, and five civilians.

He plans eventually to serve as a Catholic chaplain in the U.S. Army with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The new priest is on track to go on active duty following a three-year period of pastoral service in his home Diocese of Austin under its seminarian co-sponsorship agreement with the AMS.
Thanks to the generosity of a retired military couple, donations received in support of the AMS Co-Sponsored Seminarian Program through the end of June will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total of $25,000.
NEW ORLEANS – Father Andrew Sanchez, (MAJ), USA, DDS, a prospective U.S. Army chaplain, was ordained a Catholic priest on Saturday, June 5, 2021, in New Orleans, LA. The former active-duty Army dentist plans to go back on active duty as a fulltime chaplain with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS).
EVANSVILLE, IN – Father Garrett Braun, 2d Lt, USAFR, a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and candidate for U.S. Military chaplaincy, was ordained a Catholic priest on Saturday, June 5, 2021, in Evansville, IN.
