St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Florida Set for Auxiliary Bishop-Elect Gregg Caggianelli’s Episcopal Ordination

BOYNTON BEACH, FL – Friday, May 9, 2025, will be a significant day for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), the Diocese of Venice in Florida, and St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary (SVDP). On this date, at 2:00 p.m. (ET), Bishop-elect Gregg M. Caggianelli, Ch, Col, USAF, will be ordained as an Auxiliary Bishop for the AMS at St. Vincent Chapel. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services and President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), will ordain Bishop-elect Caggianelli, with the Most Rev. Frank J. Dewane, Bishop of Venice in Florida, and Bishop David L. Toups, Bishop of Beaumont, serving as principal co-consecrators.

Due to space limitations, attendance at the ordination is limited and will be by invitation only. However, the ordination and installation will be livestreamed on www.svdp.edu/live as well as on Facebook www.facebook.com/SVdPSem. Bishop-elect Caggianelli, originally from Kingston, NY, was in 1990 commissioned a line officer in the U.S. Air Force before leaving active duty six years later to enter seminary. He was ordained a priest on Oct. 25, 2002, for the Diocese of Venice in Florida. Now an active reservist, Chaplain Caggianelli serves as the Mobilization Assistant to the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) Chaplain, Colorado Springs, CO.

Since 2013, Bishop-Elect Caggianelli has served in a variety of capacities at SVDP, including Director of Field Ministry, Dean of Pastoral Formation, and Assistant Professor of Homiletics. Since 2019, he has served as Dean of Human Formation and since 2020, as Vice Rector.

SVDP Seminary said in a statement: “We are immensely grateful for his remarkable years of service to us, and we pray that God abundantly blesses him and his ministry.”

Bishop-Elect Caggianelli has chosen as his motto, “My grace is sufficient” (2 Cor 12:9). May God continue to fill Bishop-Elect Caggianelli with his grace as he serves our men and women in uniform, for the greater glory of God.
