Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio Consecrates and Blesses Sacramental Oils at Socially-Distanced Chrism Mass

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Sacred oils for sacramental and ecclesiastical use over the coming year on U.S. military sites worldwide and in the nation’s VA Medical Centers were blessed and consecrated Tuesday evening during a socially-distanced gathering at the annual Chrism Mass of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Attendance was limited to no more than 60 members of the public due to crowd size restrictions imposed by the District of Columbia during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. New Judicial Vicar Appointed for Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA

WASHINGTON, DC — The Reverend Mark Rutherford, J.C.L., of Williamston, MI, has been appointed Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., announced the appointment today. As Judicial Vicar, Father Rutherford will be responsible for overseeing the work of the archdiocesan Tribunal, which handles matters of canon law including cases concerning the nullity of marriage. He succeeds Father Christopher Armstrong, J.C.D., S.T.D., who is returning to his home Archdiocese of Cincinnati after nearly six years as AMS Judicial Vicar. Continue reading
