U.S. Servicemen Hone Prayer Skills at Catholic Men’s Retreat in Europe

VALLENDAR, GERMANY – How to pray? How to grasp the beauty of a relationship with God? Those themes kindled a European retreat for U.S. Military-affiliated Catholic men over the weekend at the Schoenstatt Retreat Center in Vallendar, Germany. Nearly three dozen men from various military installations throughout Germany and an airman from RAF Lakenheath in Great Britain immersed themselves in the three days of prayer, spiritual conversation, Eucharistic adoration, confession, daily Mass, and on Saturday, Feb. 3, the Feast of St. Blaise, the blessing of throats.

Father Marcel Taillon Named Interim Vocations Director

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), will soon have a new interim Director of Vocations. He is Father Marcel Taillon, a priest of the Diocese of Providence, RI. Father Taillon starts his new ministry on April 15. He succeeds Father S. Matthew Gray, Ch, Capt, USAF, who was recently called back to his home Diocese of Charleston, SC, following two years as AMS Vocations Director, and is now deployed in the Middle East with the South Carolina Air National Guard.

Future U.S. Military Leaders Join 51st Annual March for Life

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Dozens of future U.S. Army and Navy officers braved freezing temperatures, ice, wind, and snow in the Nation’s Capital on Friday to walk in the 51st annual March for Life—the second in a post-Roe America—along the National Mall. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services and President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), led the group of 40 cadets from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and 36 midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, among others.

Black and Indian Mission Office

January 28, 2024: The second collection for the Black and Indian Mission Office is taken up on the First Sunday of Lent to support the organization which is the embodiment of the Church’s concern for evangelizing the Black and Indian peoples of the United States. The funds are distributed as grants  which support and strengthen evangelization efforts in dioceses throughout the United States, including the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.

It may also give grants to other dioceses in the U.S. for particular projects, and to organizations and religious communities engaged in missionary work.
