Archbishop Broglio Issues Statement on Washington, DC Plane Crash Involving U.S. Army Helicopter and Civilian Passenger Jet

Expresses “prayerful solidarity” for families and victims

WASHINGTON, DC – His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, issued the following statement today on the multi-fatal mid-air collision last night between a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and American Eagle Flight 5342:

“On behalf of the clergy and faithful of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, I express prayerful solidarity for the families of the victims of the commercial jet and military helicopter crash last night and pray also for all of those who tragically perished in the accident. May Almighty God grant them peace and serenity and consolation to those left behind. Reagan National Airport is a very familiar place to me. This tragedy strikes very close to home.”
