Archbishop Broglio Welcomes Appointment of First Ordinary to Serve Former Anglicans Wishing to Become Catholic

Pledges cooperation to make seamless transition among military chaplains

WASHINGTON, D.C. – His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, USA (AMS) issued the following statement today on the selection of Bishop William E. Lori of Bridgeport, Connecticut to be the 16th Archbishop of Baltimore.

Archbishop Broglio said:

“With great joy I received the news that our Holy Father has chosen the Most Reverend William Lori as the Archbishop of Baltimore. We have known each other for a long time and so I am well able to appreciate his talents and his complete dedication to the Church. Recently, my brother bishops and I have benefitted from his eloquent and articulate defense of religious liberty. It will be a pleasure to welcome him back to the Baltimore-Washington area.”
