Archbishop Timothy Broglio Appoints New Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia

Msgr. Anthony Frontiero, S.T.D., to replace Msgr. Jeffrey Laible who moves to Maxwell Air Force Base to serve as priest

Rev. Msgr. Anthony Frontiero, S.T.D., will assume the role of Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, on July 1, 2023.

WASHINGTON, DC – As a sign of continual pastoral concern for those entrusted to the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio announced today that Monsignor Jeffrey Laible, the current Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, has agreed to serve the faithful at Maxwell Air Force Base.  The role is crucial for the pastoral care of those serving at the installation, those at the base for training or additional studies, and those with a long association to the chapel. He hopes to take the reins from Father Linn Harbour, the current GS (General Schedule) priest who is about to begin a well-deserved and long-awaited retirement from those responsibilities.

To serve as the new Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, Archbishop Broglio has appointed the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Frontiero, S.T.D. (see curriculum vitae), currently the Pastor of St. Matthew Parish in Windham, New Hampshire.  The new Vicar General will assume his responsibilities on July 1,  2023.

Archbishop Broglio commented on the changing of the guard:

“I am very grateful to Msgr. Laible for his years of service in the Office of Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia and extremely pleased that he will be ministering to the Catholic community at Maxwell Air Force Base.  He has a true pastor’s heart and will reach out to the various categories of people who find at Maxwell a temporary or more permanent home.  I am excited to know that he hopes to lead the Catholics there.

“At the same time, I thank Father Harbour for his long years of service, first as an airman, then an active-duty chaplain, and finally as the GS priest at Maxwell.  He is an example of faithful service.

“Finally, I am excited to benefit from Msgr. Frontiero’s vast experience and know that he will bring many talents to the Office of Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia.  Throughout his ministry he has worn a variety of hats and I am sure that he will serve the AMS well in these important responsibilities in a global archdiocese.

“It is propitious to thank my brother bishops, the Most Reverend Louis Tylka, Bishop of Peoria; the Most Reverend Thomas Rodi, Archbishop of Mobile; and the Most Reverend Peter Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, for their willingness to release these fine priests for ministry in the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.  In a time of great shortage, these generous prelates have shared with the AMS in our need.”
