Wanted: 50 Runners to Join Team AMS in October 2017 Army Ten-Miler

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), needs 50 volunteer runners to join her charity team in this year’s Army Ten-Miler on Oct. 8 in Washington, D.C. The Archdiocese is counting on Team AMS to raise $60,000 in charitable donations to support vocations, evangelization, and other religious programs for Catholic families in the United States Military, veterans hospitalized in the nation’s VA Medical Centers, and civilians working for the federal government beyond U.S. borders. Young Adults and Families in U.S. Military Gain Access to New Online Course in Evangelization and Faith Formation

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Starting this Lent, military young adults and families, Hispanic and faithful of all cultures will have a new online resource for learning about their faith, developing spirituality, and preparing to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. WASHINGTON, D.C.—Just in time for Lent, Catholics serving in the United States Military will have free access to the first volume of Bishop Robert Barron’s new video series, CATHOLICISM: the Pivotal Players. The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), has shipped 500 complimentary DVD box sets, complete with study materials, to Catholic faith communities on U.S. Military installations around the world, aboard U.S. Navy warships, and in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers.

Archbishop Broglio Calls for Christian Unity Between People, Languages, and Races

In a homily on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio Archbishop Broglio noted that for Catholics in the United States, the Feast of the Epiphany marks the beginning of the annual National Migration Week, a time for the Church to reflect on the circumstances confronting migrants, including immigrants, refugees, children, and victims and survivors of human trafficking. The theme for National Migration Week 2017, observed Jan. 8-14, draws attention to Pope Francis’ call to create a culture of encounter, and in doing so to look beyond our own needs and wants to those of others around us.
