EWTN’s The Church Universal to Focus on the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, and its Mission “Serving Those Who Serve”

Programs to air in North America at 5 p.m. on Sundays, March 1, 8, and 15; e​​​​​ncore showings each following Tuesday at 5 a.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (All times Eastern)

IRONDALE, AL – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), and its mission “serving those who serve,” will be prominently featured next month on the EWTN program, The Church Universal. Host Father Joseph Mary Wolfe, MFVA, will talk with seven AMS clergymen, Catholic U.S. Military chaplains, and lay staff members about their ministry providing pastoral care to the men and women who defend our nation in uniform during three programs over a consecutive three-week period.

The Church Universal is an informative, half-hour talk show that appears on EWTN in North America Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. (ET) and is repeated each following Tuesday at 5:00 a.m. (ET) and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (ET). The March schedule of programs focusing on the AMS is as follows:

  • Sunday, March 1, at 5:00 p.m. (ET): “Serving Those Who Serve.” Auxiliary Bishop and retired U.S. Army Chaplain Neal J. Buckon, Father Christopher Doering, CH (MAJ), USA, and Father John Reutemann, Ch, Capt, USAF (pictured), share their own first-hand experiences as chaplains to depict the important role served by priests on active duty. This program will be repeated on Tuesday, March 3, at 5:00 a.m. (ET) and Wednesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
  • Sunday, March 8, at 5:00 p.m. (ET): “The Vocation with a Vocation.” AMS Vocations Director and retired U.S. Navy Chaplain Father Aidan Logan, OCSO, and the Reverend Mr. Daniel Duplantis, a co-sponsored seminarian and prospective U.S. Air Force chaplain from the Archdiocese of New Orleans, talk about the calling within a calling to serve as priests in the armed forces and what’s being done to relieve a chronic shortage of Catholic military chaplains. This program will be repeated on Tuesday, March 10, at 5:00 a.m. (ET) and Wednesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
  • Sunday, March 15, at 5:00 p.m. (ET): “Reaching Out to Young Adults.”  AMS Vice Chancellor for Evangelization Dr. Mark Moitoza, Th.D., D. Min., and Associate Director for Young Adult Ministry Casey Bustamante Lee discuss the AMS’s particular concern for and ministry to Catholic young adults, whose ranks account for nearly one in four of those on active duty in the U.S. Military. This program will be repeated on Tuesday, March 17, at 5:00 a.m. (ET) and Wednesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
