Students at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic School in Laurel, Maryland received a surprise visit from Army Captain Mike Eitelman. The students mailed cookies and cards to Eitelman’s unit in Afghanistan. Captain Eitelman presented the students with a certifcate of recognition from his Army Special Forces unit and thanked them for their support.
The Catholic Standard, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Washington, printed the following quotes this week in an article about this event:
- He thanked them for their “spirit of generosity, spirit of charity, spirit of love.”
- “Not everyone in the Army has someone to write to him or her,” Eitelmand told the students. “You showed that soldier love.”
- “So keep praying, keep doing what your doing.”
