The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated in the Northern Hemisphere from January 18-25 each year. This year, the theme is “There is one body, and one spirit, just as you are called to the one hope of your calling”. Ephesians (4:4).
Started in 1908 as the Church Unity Octave, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a time during which Christians around the world have taken part in an octave of prayer for visible Christian unity. By annually observing the WPCU, Christians move toward the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer at the Last Supper “that they all may be one” (see John 17:21).
