Archbishop Broglio presents the Pope Pius XII Emblem to a pair of Scouts at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of the Boy Scouts of America as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our nation.

Religious scouting emblems and medals may be ordered from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA. The point of contact for religious emblems is the Office of Evangelization (; 202-719-3648). Make sure to download the order form and mail it in with original signed and completed emblem form. Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipping.

Parent and Scout Leaders Resources

  • Religious Activities – There are five series of religious activities and two international activities, to learn more about faith and Catholic role models. These patches are ordered directly from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting per the instructions on their website.
  • Martyrs of Canada, the United States, and Mexico – Youth and adults will learn how the Gifts of the Holy Spirit can help them to “take up the cross daily.” The program will encourage participants to be good citizens of the world and emphasize the importance of their participation in the World Scout Jamboree that will be co-hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada, and Asociación de Scouts de México at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in 2019.

Congratulatory Letters for Eagle Scouts

The Archbishop Broglio will gladly provide congratulatory letters to acknowledge Eagle Scouts. Requests may be sent to the address listed above or to Please be sure to include the scout’s full name, troop number and council name, and a short description of the Eagle Scout Service Project as well as other applicable details of his scouting career.

Pope Pius XII Emblem

The revised Pope Pius XII Emblem is available to the Catholic Scouting community. The Participant’s Manual is available by one of three methods (two current and one very soon):

  • Download from the NCCS Literature Ordering Online Tool – Participants can download a copy of the manual for $3.00.
  • Order a Hard Copy via the NCCS Literature Ordering Online Tool – NCCS will provide a printed copy via mail for $10.00.
  • Purchase from the BSA Supply Division: This manual will also be available soon in Scout Shops.
  • The new Pope Pius XII Facilitators Manual is only available via the NCCS Literature Ordering Online Tool. Downloadable copies cost $3.00 and printed copies cost $10.00.
  • Use of the new manuals is strongly encouraged.
