Archdiocese Celebrates Priestly Ordination of Prospective U.S. Air Force Chaplain in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IND – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), is celebrating the priestly ordination of a prospective new Catholic U.S. Air Force chaplain. Father Vincent (Vinny) Gillmore, 2d Lt, USAFR, was ordained a priest on Saturday, June 1, in Indianapolis, IN. Father Gillmore, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, hopes to go on active duty with AMS endorsement and faculties once he completes three years of pastoral service in his home Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

American Wounded Warriors to Join Thousands of International Military Pilgrims This Week in Lourdes

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, more than 200 active-duty and retired U.S. Military personnel will take part in the annual Warriors to Lourdes spiritual journey dedicated to individual healing and a more peaceful world. WASHINGTON, D.C. – With the United States Military facing a desperate shortage of Catholic chaplains, the Military Council of Catholic Women (MCCW) is stepping up to make a difference. The MCCW has just donated $50,000 to establish an endowed scholarship for seminarians in formation for priesthood and military chaplaincy. Rite of Election Celebrated for Seven Adults Affiliated with U.S. Military

Catholic Catechists in U.S. Military to Gather for Mid-Atlantic Congress

BALTIMORE—Sixty-six Catholic catechetical leaders based on United States Military installations throughout the eastern U.S. will gather in Baltimore, Md., this weekend for three days of training, fellowship, discussion, and prayer at the eighth annual Mid-Atlantic Congress (MAC). The Congress is co-sponsored by the Association of Catholic Publishers, which represents more than 60 Catholic publishers of books, music, videos, and other liturgical resources, and the Department of Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The conference gives diocesan and parish staffs and volunteers an opportunity to explore current challenges in the areas of management, finances, human resources, and planning. MAC 2019 will take place at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, 401 West Pratt Street. More than 1,300 are expected to participate in this year’s Congress, the theme of which is “Prophetic Discipleship.”

World Youth Day Draws U.S. Military Catholics to Panamá

WASHINGTON, DC— Among the hundreds of thousands of young people from 155 countries who took part in World Youth Day Jan. 22-27 in Panamá, a half-dozen U.S. Military members participated with the support of their chapel communities and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS). Buckon led the military young adult group, comprising servicemen and women from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, CA, and the Marine Corps Bases at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Camp Kinser on Okinawa, Japan.
