Rite of Election Celebrated for Five Adults Affiliated with U.S. Military

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Five aspiring Catholics affiliated with the United States Military, all based in greater Washington, celebrated the Rite of Election on Sunday, February 21, 2021, in the main chapel of the Edwin Cardinal O’Brien Pastoral Center. Father S. Matthew Gray Named Vocations Director of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), will soon have a new Director of Vocations. He is Father S. Matthew Gray, Ch, Capt, USAF, a priest of the Diocese of Charleston, SC. Father Gray replaces Father Aidan (Arthur H.) Logan, O.C.S.O., who recently began to offer pastoral assistance at Assumption Grotto Church in Detroit, MI, after serving as AMS Vocations Director for seven years.

Archdiocese to Hold Webinar for Young Adult Catholics in the U.S. Military

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), will hold the fifth in a series of Young Adult Ministry webinars for U.S. Military-affiliated men and women from ages 18 to 39. Also encouraged to participate are military pastoral leaders—Catholic priest chaplains and chapel staff at installations worldwide. The 60-to-90-minute webinar will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 8:00 p.m. EST and twice on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 a.m. EST and again at 2:00 p.m. EST.  Each session will consist of a common keynote presentation and military young adult witness followed by individual live discussions. Catholic U.S. Navy Chaplain Candidate Ordained a Transitional Deacon in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, DC – The Reverend Brother Matthew Tomeny, MIC, ENS, USNR, a candidate for the Catholic priesthood and chaplaincy in the United States Navy, was ordained a transitional deacon on Saturday, Jan. 2, in Washington, DC. The Navy reservist plans to go on active duty with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) following three years of pastoral service in his religious congregation after priestly ordination next year.

Catholic U.S. Navy Chaplain Candidate Ordained a Deacon in Boston

BOSTON – The Reverend Mr. David Campo, LTJG, USN, a candidate for the Catholic priesthood and United States Military chaplaincy, was ordained a transitional deacon on Saturday, Oct. 24, in Boston, MA. He plans eventually to serve as a Catholic chaplain in the U.S. Navy with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The new deacon is on track to be ordained a priest next year and hopes to go on active duty following a three-year period of pastoral service in his home Archdiocese of Boston.

Co-Sponsored Seminarian Program Receives $60,550 from First Lady’s Charity of Texas Knights of Columbus

HOUSTON, TX –– The Texas State Council of the Knights of Columbus recently presented the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), a check for $60,550 to support the AMS Co-Sponsored Seminarian Program(CSP). The gift comprises funds raised over the past two years by the Texas Women’s Project, headed by Ms. Mary Evans, outgoing First Lady of the Texas Knights of Columbus and wife of Immediate Past State Deputy T.
