Coffey were ordained Monday—the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord—at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D, Archbishop for the Military Services, served as principal celebrant and ordaining Prelate before a congregation of more than two-thousand on a beautiful spring afternoon in Washington, DC.

Archbishop Broglio ordained two new bishops in a solemn Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, March 25.

A 35-member group affiliated with the AMS is among thousands of catechetical leaders, instructors, and others who gathered for the annual LA Religious Education Congress.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Seven men and women affiliated with the United States Military, all based in the greater Washington area, celebrated the Rite of Election on Sunday, March 10, 2019, in the main chapel of the Edwin Cardinal O’Brien Pastoral Center. MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA—Twenty-two men including civilians and members of four service branches of the United States Armed Forces will gather here this weekend for a Feb. 28-March 3 discernment retreat aimed at helping them determine if they are called by the Holy Spirit to be Catholic priests and military chaplains. The Vocations Office of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS), is conducting the annual retreat at St. Patrick’s Seminary. The prospective chaplain candidates include three from the Army; four from the Navy; ten from the Air Force; one from the Coast Guard; and four civilians.

BALTIMORE—Sixty-six Catholic catechetical leaders based on United States Military installations throughout the eastern U.S. will gather in Baltimore, Md., this weekend for three days of training, fellowship, discussion, and prayer at the eighth annual Mid-Atlantic Congress (MAC). The Congress is co-sponsored by the Association of Catholic Publishers, which represents more than 60 Catholic publishers of books, music, videos, and other liturgical resources, and the Department of Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The conference gives diocesan and parish staffs and volunteers an opportunity to explore current challenges in the areas of management, finances, human resources, and planning. MAC 2019 will take place at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, 401 West Pratt Street. More than 1,300 are expected to participate in this year’s Congress, the theme of which is “Prophetic Discipleship.”

Buckon led the military young adult group, comprising servicemen and women from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, CA, and the Marine Corps Bases at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Camp Kinser on Okinawa, Japan.
