Scouting Ministry

"Scouting ministry provides programs that effectively contribute toward the implementation of a comprehensive approach to Catholic youth ministry. Young people need the guidance of happy, healthy, and holy adult role models willing to share their faith in both word and action."

Download the Scout Religious Medal/Emblem Order Form and mail it with the original completed and signed AHG or NCCS medal/emblem application form found at the back of the medal/emblem workbook. National Catholic Committee on Girl Scout and Camp Fire (NCCGSCF) books and medals may be ordered through NFCYM.

Mail the AMS Scout Patch order form to request the Father Capodanno Activity Patch after the activity requirements have been completed.

The mission of the American Heritage Girls National Catholic Committee (NCC) is to support American Heritage Girls, Inc. while promoting and providing for the growth and spiritual development of its Catholic members, in fidelity to the magisterium of the Catholic Church, and to act as the liaison between AHG, Inc. and the Catholic Church.

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of Scouting America as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our nation.

AMS Scout Patch Activites

The AMS Catholic Committee on Scouting developed two Scout Activity Patches for Catholic youth and adults. Click the activity patch button near the patch image to read about the requirements that are designated by age level. Upon completing the age-appropriate tasks print and mail the completed AMS Scout Patch Order Form – see the button in upper lefthand corner of this webpage.

Special thanks to Father Peter Gray, S.S., the artist of the Father Capodanno image, who granted permission to use that image to develop the patch design. Special thanks also to the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Basilica that granted permission to use the image of the Civil War Catholic Sister Nurse from a stained glass window.

Civil War Catholic Sister Nurses

The patch honors Civil War Catholic Sister Nurses to recognize their courageous healing ministry as they served both Union and Confederate armies, and anyone else who was injured.

The Father Capodanno Activity Patch

This patch honors Servant of God Father Vincent Capodanno. His words, deeds, and devotion to prayer and sacraments have inspired countless American Catholics, especially those serving in the military.

National Catholic Committee on Scouting Scholarships

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting awards ten scholarships totaling $27,000. NCCS Scholarships are awarded to service-oriented high school seniors who are Catholic Scouts in a Scouting America Program and continuing their education in college. Requirements are detailed on the NCCS website. New this year, all applications must be submitted online. Learn more.

The AMS Catholic Committee on Scouting meets quarterly to encourage Catholic religious emblem programs through the American Heritage Girls National Catholic Committee and the National Catholic Catholic Committee on Scouting. Utilize these resources to support young people in military families to grow in faith through catechetical, community building, and leadership development initiatives.
