Scouting Ministry

"Scouting ministry provides programs that effectively contribute toward the implementation of a comprehensive approach to Catholic youth ministry. Young people need the guidance of happy, healthy, and holy adult role models willing to share their faith in both word and action."

Download the Scout Religious Medal/Emblem Order Form and mail it with the original completed and signed AHG or NCCS medal/emblem application form found at the back of the medal/emblem workbook. Earn the Jubilee Patch this year

The American Heritage Girls and Scouting America have patch programs to celebrate the Jubilee.

Young people and their families are encouraged to pursue these patches and learn more about how the Church celebrates a Jubilee.

Learn more about the Jubilee on the Vatican website.

The mission of the American Heritage Girls National Catholic Committee (NCC) is to support American Heritage Girls, Inc. while promoting and providing for the growth and spiritual development of its Catholic members, in fidelity to the magisterium of the Catholic Church, and to act as the liaison between AHG, Inc. and the Catholic Church.

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS) is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of Scouting America as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our nation.

Father Capodanno Activity Patch

The AMS Catholic Committee on Scouting developed an activity patch for Catholic youth and adults. This activity patch honors Servant of God Father Vincent Capodanno. His words, deeds, and devotion to prayer and sacraments have inspired countless American Catholics, especially those serving in the military.

The purposes of the activity are:

1. To provide awareness to Scouts, adult Scout leaders, and others on the role of Priests serving as Chaplains in the US Armed Forces.

2. To encourage learning about more about servant leadership through the life and sacrifice of Father Vincent Capodanno.

3. To promote Priesthood and military Chaplaincy as a vocation.

Click the activity patch button below the patch image to read about the requirements that are designated by age level. Upon completing the age-appropriate tasks print and mail the completed AMS Scout Patch Order Form – see the button at the top of this webpage. Special thanks to Father Peter Gray, S.S., the artist of the Father Capodanno image, who granted permission to use that image to develop the patch design.

National Catholic Committee on Scouting Scholarships

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting awards ten scholarships totaling $27,000. NCCS Scholarships are awarded to service-oriented high school seniors who are Catholic Scouts in a Scouting America Program and continuing their education in college. Requirements are detailed on the NCCS website. New this year, all applications must be submitted online. Learn more.

The AMS Catholic Committee on Scouting meets quarterly to encourage Catholic religious emblem programs through the American Heritage Girls National Catholic Committee and the National Catholic Catholic Committee on Scouting. Utilize these resources to support young people in military families to grow in faith through catechetical, community building, and leadership development initiatives.
