Ten Men Gather for Discernment Retreat on Possible Vocations as U.S. Military Chaplains

COLUMBUS, OHIO—Ten men will gather here this weekend for a discernment retreat aimed at helping them determine if they are called by the Holy Spirit to be Catholic priests and military chaplains. The Vocations Office of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS), is conducting the annual retreat Dec. 6-9 at the Pontifical College Josephinum. Among the prospective  candidates are more than a half-dozen men already serving in the United States Military, including four from the Army; two from the Navy; and two from the Air Force. Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, Kicks Off 2019 National Collection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), has officially kicked off its 2019 National Collection campaign. The collection, to be taken up in Catholic parishes throughout the United States at weekend Masses Nov. 9-10, 2019, will support pastoral care and ministry to Catholic families stationed worldwide in the U.S. Military, and Catholic patients in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers throughout the country and in Guam and Puerto Rico.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio to Preach Homily at World War I Armistice Centennial Mass

Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, will preach the homily at a Mass to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Team AMS Crosses Finish Line in 34th Annual Army Ten-Miler with Only $7,530 Left to Raise

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A charity team of 54 runners representing the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS), crossed the finish line in the 34th annual Army Ten-Miler on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, just $7,530 short of its $60,000 fundraising goal. Annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services Set for THIS SUNDAY October 7

EMMITSBURG, MD — All are welcome to the annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services at the Seton Shrine on Sunday, October 7, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is the Patroness of the Sea Services, which includes the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and Public Health Service. The late Cardinal John J. Connor, when serving as the Navy  Chief of Chaplains, advocated for her designation as the Patroness of the Sea Services in 1977. The 3:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated by Father Francis P. Foley, CAPT, CHC, USN, and Command Chaplain of the Unites States Naval Academy. The Mass is co-sponsored by the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
