Marriage Enrichment Retreat Draws Record Turnout in Germany

WALDFISCHBACH-BURGALBEN, GERMANY — The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), welcomed a record thirty-one U.S. Air Force couples to Waldfischbach-Burgalben, Germany, this past weekend for an AMS Marriage Enrichment Retreat. The couples, from the Holy Family Catholic Community at Ramstein Air Base, about 20 miles away, all participated in the April 11-12 retreat at the Maria Rosenberg Pilgrimage Site and Spiritual Center — a site run by the Diocese of Speyer in southwest Germany. Fathers Emeka C. Okwuosa, Ch, Capt, USAF, and Joseph Deichert, Ch, Col, USAF (Ret.), worked with the planning committee and the facilitator, AMS Vice-Chancellor for Evangelization Mark Moitoza, Th.D., D.Min., to organize the retreat.

U.S. Military Catholics Embark on Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Rome

ROME – By decree of Pope Francis, 2025 is a Jubilee year, a time for forgiveness and reconciliation. U.S. Military Catholics will celebrate the occasion this week with an extraordinary pilgrimage to the Eternal City. At the peaks of their spiritual journey, Sunday Mass with the Holy Father and the opportunity to pass through the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica will beckon pilgrims. The five-day pilgrimage overlaps the Holy See’s Jubilee of the Armed Forces, Police, and Security Personnel for Catholic first-responders worldwide, set in Rome this weekend.

Record Number of Supporters Makes Gifts to Archdiocese in Annual Day of Giving

WASHINGTON, D.C.— A record number of supporters have contributed money in this year’s Day of Giving for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The AMS Day of Giving is held annually on July 21 to commemorate the 1986 establishment of the Archdiocese. Since Friday, July 21, 462 generous donors have contributed to the 2023 campaign, breaking the previous record of 326 donors set in 2021, giving the Archdiocese this year more than $85,000.

Catholic U.S. Military Couples Gather on Guam for Marriage Enrichment Retreat

GUAM – Twenty-six Catholic couples based at U.S. Military installations on Guam spent part of last weekend on Tumon Bay for a Marriage Enrichment Retreat sponsored by the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The May 19-20 retreat took place at the Hilton Guam Resort and Spa, about a five-minute drive from Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport. The time of reflection was facilitated by Mark Moitoza, Th.D., D. Min., AMS Vice-Chancellor for Evangelization. Fathers Guy Kagere, Ch, Capt, USAF, and Daniel J. Swartz, CHC (LT), USN, were on hand and led the couples in prayer.

Warriors to Lourdes Complete Spiritual Journey in Search of Healing, Divine Mercy, and Peace on Earth

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A group of more than 250 pilgrims composed largely of U.S. Military personnel—including the ill, wounded, and injured, along with their companions and caretakers—headed home from France this week after a week-long journey of healing to the Marian grotto and bath springs in Lourdes. The Warriors to Lourdes went to the Pyrenees Mountain village last week to take part in the 63rd annual Pèlerinage Militaire International (PMI)—or International Military Pilgrimage—staged annually since 1958 at one of the world’s holiest Catholic pilgrimage sites where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette Soubirous in a series of apparitions exactly 100 years prior.

The July 8-10 retreat took place at the Maria Rosenberg Retreat Center in Waldfischbach-Burgalben, about a 25-minute drive from Ramstein Air Base. The time of reflection was facilitated by Mark Moitoza, Th.D., D. Min., AMS Vice-Chancellor for Evangelization. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, was on hand and celebrated Holy Mass with the couples.

Catholic Faithful in U.S. Military Engage in Global Virtual Lenten Day of Recollection

WASHINGTON, DC — Draw near to the Lord! That entreaty from the Gospel of Luke 15:1 was the theme of a virtual Lenten day of recollection hosted on Thursday, March 10. 2022, by the evangelization staff of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), for U.S. Military-affiliated Catholics based worldwide. “It would be a mistake for us to think that we can go out in search of the Lord, and when we find Him, to draw near to Him,” said Auxiliary Bishop William (Bill) Muhm, giving the main reflection. “No,” he said, “we draw near to Him by allowing Him to draw near to us.”
