Father Michael Kapolka, 2d Lt, USAFR, and Father Edward Hoffmann, (1LT) IRR, both hope eventually to serve as priests on active duty with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Father Kapolka plans to serve in the Air Force, Father Hoffmann in the Army, both following a three-year period of pastoral service in their home Archdiocese of Cincinnati under the co-sponsorship agreement between the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the AMS.

He hopes eventually to serve as a Catholic chaplain in the United States Navy with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The new priest hopes to go on active duty following a three-year period of pastoral service in his home Archdiocese of Denver under a co-sponsorship agreement between the Archdiocese of Denver and the AMS.

He hopes eventually to serve as a Catholic chaplain in the U.S. Navy with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The new deacon is on track to be ordained a priest next year and hopes to go on active duty following a three-year period of pastoral service in his home Diocese of Arlington.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), will soon have a new Director of Vocations. He is Father S. Matthew Gray, Ch, Capt, USAF, a priest of the Diocese of Charleston, SC. Father Gray replaces Father Aidan (Arthur H.) Logan, O.C.S.O., who recently began to offer pastoral assistance at Assumption Grotto Church in Detroit, MI, after serving as AMS Vocations Director for seven years.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Reverend Brother Matthew Tomeny, MIC, ENS, USNR, a candidate for the Catholic priesthood and chaplaincy in the United States Navy, was ordained a transitional deacon on Saturday, Jan. 2, in Washington, DC. The Navy reservist plans to go on active duty with endorsement and faculties from the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) following three years of pastoral service in his religious congregation after priestly ordination next year.
The AMS has cancelled its 12th Annual Benefit on Nov. 21 due to COVID-19 and related ongoing restrictions. Archbishop Broglio has asked the faithful to consider giving to make up for the budget shortfall.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, celebrated the combined annual Memorial Mass for all who serve or have served in the U.S. Military, and the Memorial Mass for Vietnam War hero Father Vincent R. Capodanno, M.M., Servant of God. The two Masses, normally celebrated separately at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, were combined and moved to the main chapel of the Edwin Cardinal O’Brien Pastoral Centerdue to social distancing guidelines imposed by the City of Washington, D.C., over the COVID-19 pandemic.
HOUSTON, TX –– The Texas State Council of the Knights of Columbus recently presented the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), a check for $60,550 to support the AMS Co-Sponsored Seminarian Program(CSP). The gift comprises funds raised over the past two years by the Texas Women’s Project, headed by Ms. Mary Evans, outgoing First Lady of the Texas Knights of Columbus and wife of Immediate Past State Deputy T. Mark Evans.
