World Youth Day Draws U.S. Military Catholics to Panamá

WASHINGTON, DC— Among the hundreds of thousands of young people from 155 countries who took part in World Youth Day Jan. 22-27 in Panamá, a half-dozen U.S. Military members participated with the support of their chapel communities and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, (AMS). Auxiliary Bishop Neal J. Buckon led the military young adult group, comprising servicemen and women from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, CA, and the Marine Corps Bases at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Camp Kinser on Okinawa, Japan.

Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, Kicks Off 2019 National Collection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), has officially kicked off its 2019 National Collection campaign. The collection, to be taken up in Catholic parishes throughout the United States at weekend Masses Nov. 9-10, 2019, will support pastoral care and ministry to Catholic families stationed worldwide in the U.S. Military, and Catholic patients in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers throughout the country and in Guam and Puerto Rico.

Active-Duty Couples Invited to Apply for Catholic Marriage Enrichment Retreat

AMS Director of Faith Formation First-Ever Recipient of Newly-Created Wineskins Award from National Conference for Catechetical Leadership

CHICAGO – On Friday, June 1, Mr. José Amaya, Director of Faith Formation for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) was honored to receive the newly-created Wineskins Award from the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL). Mr. Amaya is the first-ever recipient of the Wineskins Award in the category of “Diocesan/Multi-Diocesan.” The NCCL established the award recently to: (1) highlight and celebrate extraordinary achievement occurring in a diocese (or diocesan clusters) in the ministries of evangelization and catechesis; (2) share successful initiatives that may benefit other dioceses; (3) encourage continued creative innovation in parish catechetical and evangelization efforts; and (4) reflect the spirit of the “new evangelization” promulgated by Saint Pope John Paul II and the General/National Directories for Catechesis.

Memorial Mass Draws 2,250 Faithful to the National Shrine
